Borja Peña Gorostegui is a Spanish Director based in Los Angeles with over 20 years of industry experience.
Borja’s debut as Writer/Director, the animated short film 'Lost & Crowned,' was released worldwide in September 2020 and garnered over 100 million views within its first two months. Following this success, he directed the cherished Christmas special, '5 More Sleeps ’Til Christmas,' a 22-minute film based on Jimmy Fallon’s best-selling book, airing during the holiday season on NBC and Peacock. Most recently, Borja has been actively collaborating with Disney, Shadow Machine, and Apple as a director, showrunner, and writer, working on several acclaimed projects in the film and TV narrative space.
A consummate visual storyteller, Borja’s work continues to captivate audiences worldwide, amassing hundreds of millions of views online and earning prestigious accolades, including THE ONE SHOW, AICP, and ADDY. Inspired by the films of Steven Spielberg from a young age, Borja's passion for adventure and rich narratives shaped his approach to storytelling.
He honed his skills at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where he experimented with every storytelling medium available. In 2005, Borja moved to New York and joined top independent studios, rapidly evolving from a designer to a lead compositor, 3D animator, CGI generalist, technical supervisor, and project lead. His diverse experience has made him a 'Swiss Army knife' in filmmaking, marked by a meticulous attention to detail and a relentless passion for every facet of the filmmaking process.
In 2012, Borja advanced his career by joining Psyop as a director, where he further honed his storytelling craft. Working with high-end brands, he directed compelling campaigns for household names such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nintendo, Samsung, Frito-Lay, McDonald’s, Red Bull, Chobani, PlayStation, and Delta Airlines. This role not only solidified his reputation in the industry but also expanded his expertise in creating influential narratives for a global audience.
